NATIVE

Lights, Color, Merriment… And Trouble!

Native Launches The Color Carnival Spearheaded By DJ Trouble Andrew And Jason Bothe

For Immediate Release: February 25, 2012 – “Trouble in Manila!” These words marked the beginning of DJ / International musician, Trevor Andrew’s takeover of Manila. “Trouble Andrew,” the name he goes by in the recording industry, was flown in along with Native’s marketing representative, Jason Bothe, for the long-awaited Philippine launch of Native shoes held in the center of Bonifacio High Street.

Hailing from Canada, DJ Trouble Andrew is known for racking up numerous achievements in his various endeavors. Aside from being christened as a legend in the snowboarding world, documented for his fashion sense, and creating a name as a world-renowned producer and recording artist (Trouble Gang Records), Andrew is also one of Native’s longest-standing brand ambassadors assisting its founder, Damien Van Zyll De Jong, with everything from marketing to product development.

Coming along for the ride was Jason Bothe who, like Trouble Andrew, is a full-blooded Canadian and bent on taking the world by storm. Aside from being a DJ he is also a renowned artist, an expert on pop culture, making him an ideal Marketing Representative for Native.

The event, appropriately named, Color Carnival, was shrouded in amusement and merriment as Native brought a physical rendition of happiness to everyone. Carnival games such as the balloon dart and ring toss were a hit for both the young and old alike, while the snow cone and cotton candy booths to name a few, were lined up for by everyone as they reprised old memories and created new ones with their families and friends amidst the festivities. The carnival was something that the whole family could enjoy, not to mention all the crazy characters on stilts and in make-up, which added to the high!

“We did a carnival because native is just fun loving and free-spirited,” says Miguel Cervero, Philippine Brand Manager for Native. “There’s a native for everyone and every kind of person; young, old, men, women or children can all enjoy native just like how there’s an attraction for everyone at the carnival. That’s where the concept came from.”

A fashion show by the country’s upcoming youth was also brought upon the crowd as they strutted the runway donning Native’s latest Spring Summer 2012 collection. Taekwondo Champion Karl Delos Santos, Ateneo Basketball captain Kirk Long, professional model Terrance Lloyd, fashion design student Kim Chanpongco, football player Kim Carlos Smit, and Philippine national team swimmer Roxy Kee, are a few of those chosen as Native brand ambassadors to work the runway.

The night ended on a high with DJ Trouble Andrew spinning his signature beats giving Manila a taste of how things go when the Trouble Gang takes over. It was a riot!
